Social commitment at the MR family event

Donations handed over to two regional initiatives on behalf of the company's employees

On June 8, 2024, the employees of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) and its local subsidiary Reinhausen Power Composites GmbH (RPC) celebrated a big family event with well over 4,000 participants. As a way to share the joy of recent successes and the company-wide companionship, the region was involved in the form of a donation campaign.

The operation of a machine shop in Reinhausen can be traced back to 1868. The headquarters of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) is still located on site, where more than 2,000 of the company's 4,500 employees worldwide work at the Regensburg locations to ensure a safe, economical and sustainable supply of electricity. During the pandemic, maintaining the business of the company, which operates 40 companies at 54 locations in 27 countries, required considerable flexibility and effort, especially from the staff in Regensburg. In recognition of this commitment, but also for the excellent business results achieved recently, the management wanted to thank the staff with a celebration in June, to which family members were also invited, including those of the many new employees.

The donation campaign that was held as part of the event was announced for the benefit of two social organizations. The participants at the celebration donated generously, and within just a few hours almost 15,000 euros had been collected; this amount was then increased by the MR management to a total of 30,000 euros and handed over to the East Bavarian initiatives THEO and Leukämiehilfe.

The vkm chairwoman Christa Weiß and the media representative Engelbert Weiß accepted a check for 20,000 euros on behalf of THEO Ostbayern. With this project, the Verein für körper- und mehrfachbehinderte Menschen e.V. (vkm) (en: Association for People with Physical and Multiple Disabilities) wants to build a center for animal-assisted therapies in the municipality of Zeitlarn by 2025 (motto: “Animals help to heal!”). Christa Weiß was delighted with the donation: “The vkm Regensburg has been offering therapeutic riding for almost 40 years, with considerable success. We would like to thank you for your generous donation. It brings us closer to our goal of enabling more people with different challenges to experience more joy and quality of life through group and individual offers and inclusive measures.”

A check for 10,000 euros was presented to the Leukämiehilfe Ostbayern (en: Leukaemia Aid for Eastern Bavaria). Its initiator, Prof. Dr. Reinhard Andreesen, expressed his thanks at the handover with the following words: “We are very pleased to have been chosen as the recipient of the donation and would like to thank the employees of MR who contributed to this fantastic sum at the family event. Movement and exercise for cancer patients are the focus of our work, which is crucially supported by this donation.”
