Making voltage regulation the standard for distribution transformers
Utilities face enormous challenges to reinforce, expand and enable power grids to meet the requirements of the next years. Voltage regulating distribution transformers (VRDT) are an effective and sustainable tool to answer these challenges in the distribution network. MR’s latest OLTC for VRDT enables voltage regulation to become a standard function of distribution transformers.

Watch the full storyThe new ECOTAP® VPD®
Our new ECOTAP® VPD® combines the performance and unchallenged reliability of MR OLTCs with simplicity and the highest possible degree of standardization to help utilities to cope with the challenges in their distribution networks and meet the requirement profile a large-scale technology deployment demands for.
„Simply install it, switch on and it runs, runs, runs.“
Thomas Hilbe – Vorarlberger Energienetze GmbH (AT)
„VRDT plays a central role in providing voltage stability to the grid of
the future.“
Raffaele Caruso – LV Planning Manager, SA Power Networks (AU)
On-Load performance combined with off-circuit simplicity
On-Load performance combined with off-circuit simplicity
What if an on-load tap-changer were as easy to work with as a de-energized tap-changer? The new ECOTAP® VPD® is a big leap towards that goal.
Visit the product page„We are currently buying only VRDTs, because we already have enough unregulated distribution transformers.“
Dr.-Ing. Johannes Schmiesing – Manager Grid Development (Electricity), Avacon (DE)
ECOTAP® VPD® has taken root in distribution networks all over the world
units shipped by end of 2021 to
transformer OEMs supplying
operators worldwide
„Absolutely we'd call it a game changer. The regulated transformer gives us the possibility to respond to the changing demand profile through out the day.“
Ben Ingham – Innovation Manager, Electricity North West Ltd (GB)
