„I speak up to four different languages every day - and that makes my work really exciting.“

Vinicius Azevedo dos Santos, Business Development Manager

What exciting topic are you currently working on?

We are working on making distribution grids smarter, more flexible, and ready for the energy transition. What makes this exciting is that we are bringing decades of MR's expertise from other areas into the distribution grid. In our Distribution Grid Applications team, we stay in close contact with Distribution System Operators, transformer manufacturers, and academic institutions from all over the world. That means I use up to four different languages every day! For me, business development is all about understanding the global context and different perspectives and that's exactly what I enjoy most about this work.

How did you find out about MR?

During my Master's program at RWTH Aachen University, my institute organized a technical excursion to several leading companies in Germany. I hadn't heard of MR before that visit, but I left with a fantastic impression. Out of all the companies we visited that week, MR stood out with one of the best facilities and the most passionate, motivated employees. I met people who had been with MR for 20 or even 30 years, and that shows the culture and commitment here. From that moment, my decision was clear: I wanted to be part of it. I completed my Master's while working at MR and have continued building my career here ever since.

What role does flexible working time play in your work-life balance?

For me, it makes a huge difference. Being able to adapt my schedule, even something as simple as checking the weather and biking home before a heavy rain, adds real flexibility to my day. I can deliver more on the days I feel inspired and avoid wasting hours when productivity is low. In the end, it's a win-win: it makes things better for both employees and the employer.
