Oil Analysis

For maximum operational reliability

Knowing the condition of the transformers is critical when it comes to ensuring the lasting operating reliability of your transformer. Analysis of the transformer oil is a tried-and-tested method here. We can carry out all relevant oil analyses for transformers and on-load tap-changers in accredited oil labs around the world and provide an expert interpretation of the measurement results. In addition to the analysis data, TESSA® APM Oil also provides you with a powerful tool for managing and graphically displaying the condition.

More Information

With regular inspection of the oil quality, the gases released in the oil and the relevant indicators in oil for paper insulators, a standard package of oil analyses is sufficient. This includes color, appearance, dissipation or power factor, breakdown check, neutralization number/acidity, interfacial tension, furans and DGA. Through a comparison with historical values from the respective asset, trends can be recognized quickly and responded to early before damage occurs.

Your benefits
+ Early detection of deviations
+ Minimization of damage risk
+ Continuous history
+ Transparency of the oil data in OILTEST

In the test portfolio for extensive condition assessment as part of TESSA® FLEETSCAN2D, other analyses such as PCB, DBDS, corrosive sulfur, particles and methanol are also included in addition to routine monitoring. This enables a very extensive view into the overall condition of the asset. Especially in older assets, this "health check" provides a huge advantage in the predictive planning of operational costs and investments.

Your benefits
+ "Big" asset check for an overall view of the condition of the asset
+ Support in predictive planning of maintenance, repair, modernization and replacement equipment

In case of a fault, the oil analysis is an important initial tool for quick indication of the fault cause. DGA in particular is an established method for fault diagnostics. As a specialist for tap-changers, the knowledge and methodology for tap-changer analytics is constantly refined using diagnostics and integrated into the MR "toolbox" for fault analysis.

Your benefits
+ Support from oil experts in the analysis of faults
+ Recommendations for action based on oil diagnosis as a quick initial measure in case of faults

For new transformers, filling the transformer with fault-free oil during commissioning and as part of installation is a basic requirement for high-quality, successful acceptance of a new asset. Furthermore, monitoring the oil values provides a quick indication of any potential fault during tests as well as before, during and after commissioning.

Our test portfolio for commissioning
We take samples and perform oil analyses to validate the oil quality as is necessary for new oil and new equipment, for example in accordance with IEC 60296, or for used equipment after reconditioning or regeneration, for example in accordance with IEEE_C_57_140.

Your benefits
+ Support/guidance by oil experts as part of commissioning
+ Service from a single source in connection with other services

OILTEST – the intelligent oil database with expert assessment tools.

OILTEST – the intelligent oil database with expert assessment tools.

A growing risk of transformer failures can be observed all around the world. This is caused by the increasing average transformer age that is often combined with higher loads due to the integration of renewable energies. Therefore, fast, cost-effective, straightforward and reliable condition assessment for transformers via the analysis of transformer oil is becoming increasingly important today.

With our database solution OILTEST, we offer you the option to file the vast amount of data consisting of asset information and oil analysis data in a clear and well-structured way and to display it at a glance. The knowledge of Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen's experts combined with our intelligent database system provides a thorough and reliable condition assessment of your transformers that is far beyond the standard.
