“Connecting medieval world heritage and artistic vision”
Bright eyes. Bright facades. Illuminated monuments: From March 12 to 22, 2026, numerous light artworks will shine in and on buildings, streets, and squares in Regensburg's old town. In mid-March 2026, Regensburg will once again become the stage, screen, and home of the international light art scene, thrilling tens of thousands of people in the evening hours with outstanding art in a World Heritage Site.
Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) is also sponsoring the second edition of this top-class event at 14 locations in Regensburg's old town. In keeping with the anniversary of the Jansen patent, MR is presenting one of the highlights of the event in a unique location with the spectacular artwork “Inner Time” by Sebastian Kite in the Thon-Dittmer-Palais: “Inner Time is a living architecture of light, sound, and movement that invites the audience to immerse themselves in a choreography of transformation, presence, and shared experience,” promises the program booklet from the RE.LIGHT organizers at Regensburg City Hall.
In particular, in the anniversary year of the patent for the high-speed resistor-type tap-changer, MR, as THE POWER BEHIND POWER, is celebrating the availability of stable energy for all with Regensburg residents and guests, according to Oliver Reetz, MR press spokesman: “Light and movement have been symbolic of the power of electrical energy for over 100 years.
