KHNP is the world's fifth largest producer of nuclear power with a total output of 20,716 MW. The aim of the retrofit project was to replace the motor-drive unit and control panel with AVR in a 32-year old on-load tap-changer from Fuji. RKR engineers supervised and provided technical support for the turn-key project, which was officially completed on 25 October 2014.
This project is of great importance to RKR because it is the first retrofit project of this size it has undertaken.
A project from September 2014 also proves that the new ISM® Technology is very popular on the Korean market and that there is great potential for asset management in the country. This project saw RKR service experts replace a MK30 MR voltage regulator which was more than 20 years old with a new TAPCON® with ISM® Technology at Kumho Tires.
Both retrofit projects were a huge success and the transformers have long been up and running again in both cases thanks to the professional and exemplary collaboration between RKR and MR specialists.
