MR is Germany's 'Hidden Champion' of the Year

German news channel n-tv honors midsize firms

For the third time, German news channel n-tv has selected Germany's "Hidden Champion" of the year. The main prize as well as awards for "Sustainability", "Social Responsibility", "Generational Transition", and "Brand" are granted to companies that are highly successful but largely unknown to the general public. This year the main prize was awarded to Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR). The company simultaneously won the "Social Responsibility" category. Approximately 100 firms competed for prizes.

Michael Rohde, Managing Director of MR, addressed attendees of the gala event in Frankfurt: "We too are a “Hidden Champion”. Only industry insiders know that more than 50% of all electrical energy worldwide flows through our products."

Dr. Philipp Rösler, Germany's Federal Minister of Economics, is the patron of the prize. According to the jury's decisions, MR is more than just the leader in a niche market of power engineering. It also exhibits social commitment with the founding of the Scheubeck-Jansen Foundation. The entire region has benefited from the funding. The jury was supported by a board of technical experts (Dr. Roland Berger, Prof. Dr. Michael Hüther, and others). Both committees, consisting of company founders, managing directors, and scientists, evaluated the applications in a multi-step process. They carefully reviewed the applicants' written entries and referenced additional editorial research.
