Conventional compensation systems are dimensioned and manufactured according to the requirements placed on a technological process or in accordance with special customer specifications. For the most part such systems consist of individually produced capacitor banks, optionally with or without reactor protection in accordance with the compensation requirements. If there are special requirements with regard to the reduction of harmonics in the customer supply network, specially dimensioned filter circuits can be used to reduce the harmonics to agreed compatibility limits. Depending on the requirements, conventional compensation systems are available for both indoor and outdoor installation. Optional expansion with additional components such as switching and control devices means that even conventional compensation systems can be switched automatically and adapted to meet any technological requirements.
