Research goal: 100% reliability.

Research goal: 100% reliability.

If you want to continually improve safety in the energy supply sector, you need to be at the cutting edge of research and development. For over 80 years we have been actively involved in shaping high-voltage engineering and are continually pushing the boundaries of what is feasible with our products.

Order: Tests, tests, tests.

Order: Tests, tests, tests.

Cold and hot tests at temperatures between -60 and 130 degrees are just the start of the ordeal, which an on-load tap-changer has to go through during various tests in our unique test center. It encounters an artificially produced bolt of lightning of up to 1.8 million volts in the high-voltage laboratory. Yet despite this, it precisely performs tap change after tap change and brushes off this extreme loading before demonstrating what it is capable of in the time lapse test. It still needs to be working perfectly at least 50 years down the line. A standard our technology has met since the very start.

In action: Mr. High Voltage.

Marco Hörl uses high voltage to test MR products. His goal is not simply to meet the requirements of the toughest international standards, but to exceed them. But he doesn't just put our products through their paces: he expects a lot of himself too. He configures test and measurement equipment and precisely analyzes data. He's with our tap changers all the way from the prototype phase to readiness for volume production, helping to make sure that MR products work reliably around the world for decades to come.
