Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR) has entered into a new cooperation in Russia with the transformer manufacturer Izhora Transformers LLC. The contract was signed on September 26, 2013 in St. Petersburg. During the meeting, Izhora Transformers also placed an order for its first two MR tap changers and corresponding transformer accessories from Messko.

Izhora Transformers LLC is a joint venture between Power Machines OJSC, Russia's largest nuclear power construction company, and Toshiba Corporation. The joint venture was launched in 2011 to produce power transformers (nominal voltages of between 110 and 750 kV, capacity of between 25 and 630 MVA). This Russian-Japanese joint venture will enable the problems associated with comprehensive modernization of the main power grid network to be solved using the most advanced and innovative technologies.

Izhora Transformers LLC is currently constructing a substation in the Metallostroy industrial zone of St. Petersburg. The plant is to be put into operation by the end of 2013. The investment totals over 5 billion rubles. Izhora Transformers LLC's first order was for two MR VACUTAP® VV OLTCs and Messko transformer accessories for the new substation.

Izhora Transformers LLC and MR look forward to working together successfully in the future.
