History

It all began with the invention of the so-called high-speed resistor-type tap-changer by Dr. Bernhard Jansen, M.Sc. (Eng.) in 1926. Coincident with the publication of his ground-breaking patents he started building the corresponding prototypes in 1929. To that end, he needed two special toothed wheels which proved impossible to procure. After numerous fruitless inquiries, someone happened to mention Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen to him. Success at last! It was MR who finally supplied him with items of the required craftsmanship and design. Dr. Jansen was deeply impressed by the competence of this small business. Step-by-step, this first meeting evolved into a partnership which turned out to be the initial spark of the phenomenal success MR would ultimately come to enjoy.
