The main goal was to introduce advance technology of VACUTAP® to all key endusers in Korea and to create awareness on the importance of OLTC maintenance among the users of power transformer. In addition, various Messko products for precise transformer monitoring and controlling were also introduced.

The total number are 103 participants consists of enduser companies which mainly consists of electronic, steel industry, petro-chemical, Independent Power producer company, utility like KEPCO and major OEM such as Hyundai Heavy Industry, Hyusong and ILJIN.

Besides express his gratitude to MR and KOM&S for this seminar, the VIP speaker, Mr. Soon_Kyu, Park, Director of Substation Operation &Maintenance team also wished all parties will gain invaluable knowledge from this technical seminar and adopted a proactive maintenance strategy towards asset management

All speeches by our speaker was translated into Korean Language by a professional translator for better understanding of our participants and the result is very encouraging judging from the positive participation from the floor during question and answering session.

During every tea break interval, the participants were given the opportunity to observe a maintenance demonstration of the OLTC type M carried out by Mr. Robert Pickl of MR Germany and assisted by Mr. Cochran from RAP. The demonstration consist of visual inspection of diverter switch, the measurement of contact wear on movable contacts and transition resistors, removal of diverter switch contact shells, replacement of braided contact leads, contact carrier, contacts, resistor connection leads, fixed contacts and current strips, and reinstallation of insulating drive shaft and supporting cylinder.

In addition, participants were attracted to the demonstration diverter switch unit of VACUTAP® VR, Tapcon 240, Messko control panel and accessories to experience themselves how to operate these equipments.

All personnel from MR and RAP were kept busy with questions asked by the audience and they were satisfied with answer from the organizer.

Samples of VR-type OLTC and Tapcon 230 as well as of Messko products such as EPT202 and Messko temperature indicators were exhibited in the conference hall.

After official closing MRcademy® Korea, some of the guests stayed back and spent their evening to have dinner with MR Group participants.

On conclusion, the participants feedback was very encouraging and they thought it would be great to hold more such conferences in the future to further enhance their knowledge on the various MR products and services available.
