Solutions of Reinhausen for efficient operation and grid connection of wind energy plants and wind power plants

Maximum energy generation – onshore and offshore

Mastering growing challenges

The worldwide demand for electricity from renewable power sources is increasing – stimulated not last by affirmative measures and the goals of governments to reduce greenhouse gases. By the year 2030 more than 30% of the worldwide power supply will be produced with renewable energy sources, especially the growth of the wind segment is intensive.
Particularly in Europe, America and China this has caused a boom in the construction of wind power plants. The increasing share of wind energy generation is a great challenge for reliable and safe integration of wind energy in the transmission and distribution grids. Controllable and dependable – that’s the way wind power plants should behave in accordance with grid connection regulation (grid code) and support the grids during failures. The fluctuating and difficult to regulate occurrence of wind, increases the demands on the grids and on voltage regulation.
The use of an on-load tap-changer on the transformer connected to the grid provides almost ideal voltage regulation.
In addition to the individual onshore wind energy plants, particularly offshore wind parks and onshore higher-performance wind parks near deserts are experiencing continuous growth. These wind plants are located far away from the load centers and this increases the demand for grid connection and transmission concepts in the high voltage range.
Great challenges, particularly in the offshore area, are waiting to be mastered. To ensure that wind plants run reliably and without malfunctions, the sea-side components must be adapted to both: the extreme environmental and weather conditions and the cramped space.

Innovative products and services paired with extensive know-how – guarantees for maximum efficiency

With an extensive range of application-specifically designed products and customized services, the Reinhausen Group supports you worldwide in the technical and economic optimization of both power generation by wind power and the transmission of electrical energy. You can also profit from the extensive know-how of our experts during the handling of large projects. Our experts are familiar with the special demands on on-load tap-changers in the high voltage range and will make a very significant contribution to the optimal grid connection, whether for frequently used transmission technologies such as high voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission with the new IGBT and classic thyristor-based concepts or high voltage alternating current (HVAC) transmission.

There is no on-load tap-changer topic for which we don’t have an application-optimized solution that we can offer for the transformer in both onshore and offshore operation.
Our on-load tap-changers are manufactured under highest production standards and set international standards.
Coordinated accessories of our subsidiary Messko which are adapted to the difficult operational conditions at sea help to extend the lifespan of your transformers and to lower their operating costs.
Innovative electronic products allow you to reduce the maintenance intervals of the on-load tap-changers.
Our palette of products and services are completed by our worldwide technical support and a worldwide service network so that you have Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen – a strong and committed partner – at your side during the entire service life.

With demands regarding the assurance of an optimization of the reactive and active power flow and the minimization of harmonic waves on the grid, our business division Power Quality Management (PQM) concentrates on your needs both project and customer-specifically and satisfies your requirements, starting with consulting competence and ending with services such as compensation equipment and filter systems.

You are best advised with the technologically leading products of Reinhausen Power Composites (RPC) when composite hollow insulators for high voltage devices are involved, for example for onshore substations of wind parks (e.g., transformer bushings, voltage converters, etc.). In addition, this business division also offers special solutions for wind turbines or wind turbine couplings.
