The foundation was created with a deed of foundation by the Scheubeck Holding GmbH & Co in Regensburg on 14th December 2000. The benefactor represents the common interests of the founding family of the present-day Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR).

The occasions leading up to the creation of the Scheubeck-Jansen Foundation were the 100th anniversary of the company re-named Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen by Andreas Scheubeck, the 75th anniversary of the issuing of the on-load tap-changer patent to Dr. Bernhard Jansen and the delivery of the 100,000th switch – all three anniversaries were celebrated in the year 2001.
