GRIDCON® Transformer


Product Description

The voltage regulated GRIDCON® Transformer is a distribution transformer based on Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen's decades of experience in voltage regulation for transformers.
It can be fitted in any compact station as it has the same dimensions as a non-regulated transformer. Its anticipated service life is no different from that of a non-regulated transformer and it remains maintenance-free over its entire life.

Function of voltage regulated distribution transformer

A voltage regulated distribution transformer can be used to uncouple the voltage in the medium-voltage grid from that in the low-voltage grid such that the entire voltage range of ±10 % is available in the low-voltage grid. This then provides 11 % rather than 3 % in the low- voltage grid for an increase in voltage from the feed-in of renewable energy. This is almost four times the capacity and benefits feed-in from photovoltaic systems in particular.
 
As soon as a complete medium-voltage ring is equipped throughout with voltage regulated distribution transformers, from a technical standpoint there is no longer any need to limit feed-in to medium voltage to a voltage increase of 2 % because the voltage regulated transformer gives each local grid station the technical ability to again regulate the voltage to within the range required by the standard. This would allow for a huge increase in the potential for voltage from wind energy systems to be absorbed.
