A seminal new coating technology was presented at the "Würzburger Automobil Gipfel" on the 9th of July. The creators were Reinhausen Plasma (RP) Ltd., a subsidiary of the REINHAUSEN-Group. Nearly three hundred innovations had been submitted to the competition. Out of these the independent jury chose the solution from Regensburg as one of the winners of this year's NoAE (Network of Automotive Excellence) innovation award.

Using a cold.active plasma source, temperature-sensitive plastics along with glass, cardboard, paper, metal, wood and ceramics can be coated to high precision in an environmentally friendly way, without the use of chemical solvents.

The international competition for innovation was initiated by the auto industry (Audi, BMW, Daimler, Ford, Porsche, Mazda, Fiat, Mitsubishi and Toyota). Together with notable subcontractors and engineering service providers they are searching for realizable solutions which are characterized by their usability to customers. This year, the themes efficiency and flexibility of production, improvements in efficiency, and lightweight construction were highlighted. The patron of the innovation competition is German Federal Minister for Economics and Technology Dr. Karl-Theodor zu Guttenberg.
