MR is Germany's "Hidden Champion" of the Year

For the third time, German news channel n-tv has selected Germany's "Hidden Champion" of the year. The main prize as well as awards for "Sustainability", "Social Responsibility", "Generational Transition", and "Brand" are granted to companies that are highly successful but largely unknown to the general public. This year the main prize was awarded to Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen (MR). The company simultaneously won the "Social Responsibility" category. Approximately 100 firms competed for prizes.

What do our customers think of MR and what areas still need additional optimization? To answer these questions we ran a worldwide customer satisfaction analysis again last year. What did our survey show? We were able to improve our results in many categories and our customers gave us good marks throughout.
In comparison to the 2006 results, there was particular improvement in customer satisfaction in the areas of customer support and delivery time. Again we did not offer our customers a gift in return for their participation in this customer satisfaction analysis and instead promised to donate 5 Euros to Unicef for each interview. 1263 interviews resulted in a total donation of 6315 Euros which MR rounded off to 6500 Euros.

During the inauguration ceremony of the company’s new, globally unique test center in Regensburg, Bavarian Prime Minister Dr. Günther Beckstein called the Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) corporation an “enterprise on the fast track.” It is, thus, not surprising that MR has become the global market leader in its branch. In addition to numerous guests of honor – among them Ms. Brigitta Brunner, the President of the District Government, and Lord Mayor Hans Schaidinger –, MR’s General Managers Dr. Nicolas Maier-Scheubeck and Michael Rohde also welcomed many customers and suppliers from Germany and abroad. After the official ceremony, the company opened its doors to the public for a “Science Day.” Almost 10,000 interested people from the region visited the new high tech building and partook in the various programs which provided both information and entertainment.

A seminal new coating technology was presented at the "Würzburger Automobil Gipfel" on the 9th of July. The creators were Reinhausen Plasma (RP) Ltd., a subsidiary of the Reinhausen-Group. Nearly three hundred innovations had been submitted to the competition. Out of these the independent jury chose the solution from Regensburg as one of the winners of this year's NoAE (Network of Automotive Excellence) innovation award.

MR Technology for Germany's First Underground Transformer Station

Germany's first underground transformer station is taking shape right now in the heart of Frankfurt's financial district. Mainova - the local power provider - ordered three modern 50 MVA transformers to replace their old 40 MVA predecessors. The reason for the new underground construction was the extreme scarcity of space in the city. For on-load tap-changers and the protective equipment, transformer manufacturer Siemens (Dresden) picked the VACUTAP® VRCIII 400Y-123 and Messko's oil thermometer. The 85-ton transformers have been installed in the meantime and equipping the transformers is currently underway. This involves, among other things, the installation of the oil conservator and the pipes.

It was a surprising appearance of MR at the Husum Wind Energy 2008, an international fair in the Northern part of Germany. Hostesses provided the visitors with attractive bags inscribed "I've got the Power". Content: a candy bar and a brochure with MR products related to the generation of wind energy. Additionally there was a raffle where you could win a weekend in a wellness resort. Husum Wind Energy set a new record with 700 exhibitors from 35 countries and more than 20 000 Visitors from all over the world.

"We will be in a position to simulate even extreme operating conditions in this new high-tech laboratory, conditions which our tap-changers will later be subjected to for decades to come. The technical equipment is unique worldwide", explained the two managing directors Dr. Nicolas Maier-Scheubeck and Michael Rohde during the official laying of the foundation stone ceremony.

At ABB in Baden (Switzerland) they passed the so-called Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) and the conformity test of the IEC61850 control system protocol with flying colors.

Michael Rohde has joined us at Maschinenfabrik Reinhausen GmbH (MR) as a new member of the management board. On 1 April 2005 the graduate engineer will take over from Dr.-Ing. Harro M. Lührmann who is retiring after 16 years with the company in Regensburg. Michael Rohde and Dr. Nicolas Maier-Scheubeck, who has been a commercial director since 1996, will be jointly responsible for MR and its 12 associated companies worldwide.
